best. airport. ever.

Fish and chips. Mochas with 75% dark chocolate. I heart SeaTac. (I know these things exist elsewhere than the airport, but if you have to have a layover, you might as well make it here.)

pink drink

The garbage disposal is broken, leaving me with no desire to cook/create piles of dishes that need to be washed by hand. Until last night when we discovered we could drain the sink by manually turning the blades. Success! (Sort of). And to celebrate? Pink drink!

You will need:*
approximately 1.5 lbs of rhubarb stalks, chopped
1 cup water
1 cup sugar

Mix everything in a heavy-bottomed pot. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer for 20 minutes. Strain the syrup into a bowl, and transfer to your storage container of choice. You can keep the leftover solids to use as a pseudo jam. Store both jam and syrup in the refrigerator.

Here I've mixed the syrup with sparking water, (one part syrup to three parts water? maybe?) but it's supposed to be good with champagne too. I think I will have to check that out this weekend. For science.

tote

The farmer's market starts up again tomorrow. As excited as I am, I know it's still going to be a while before the selection gets good. The upside? Plenty of time to knit another of these totes. The first one I knit stretched out quite a bit, so this time around I'm going to shorten both the straps and the body of the bag.

If you'd like to knit your own, the pattern can be found here.

time zero

It seems like you need something to break the silence at the beginning. So hello. I'm here. And now, onwards and upwards.
